Tiny Tlaxcala, the capital of Mexico’s smallest state, is often overlooked by travelers, but its relaxed colonial charms make it well worth a visit. Tlaxcala City is an easy day trip from Puebla. You can also visit from Mexico City, but the bus ride is closer to two hours one way.

In February and March of 2017 I visited Mexico City and then spent three weeks in Guanajuato taking Spanish classes, followed by three days in Zacatecas, a beautiful northern mining town.
In October 2016 I spent two and a half weeks studying Spanish at AIL Madrid. Overall it was a great experience and I highly recommend the school.
